May

I can't believe the end of the year is here already.  We have packed so much in this last month its been a bit of a whirlwind!  The first graders earned one more popcorn party at the end of the year and we went BIG with Trolls.  Usually they stay in their desks but this time since it was a long movie I let them use pillows and bean bags to get comfortable.
Our spring concert was such a good time.  Everyone sang old rock and roll songs and had such cute props and actions.  The first graders sang "Do Wah Diddy Diddy" and "Rockin' Robin" and the girls danced with the high school girls to "The Hand Jive".

Quick selfie before we left for the concert
After the concert, everyone's families came to the room to look at our art work and projects we have made.  We made some cool watercolor rainbow hair pictures to hang in the hallway.

We also had these hand painted flower pots filled with growing flowers for Mother's Day to take home after the concert.  In front of the flower pots are cards made from their hand prints and turned into butterflies.

Giraffes are my favorite- I wasted more time than I care to admit waiting for April to have her baby... So I was so excited to see these awesome oil pastel giraffes come back with the kids from art class.  One sweetheart even gifted me hers instead of taking it home.
We wrote a group letter to the Kindergarters filling them in on the fun they are going to have in first grade next year.  Everyone chose 1 sentence to read aloud in our letter.  They did an amazing job reading to the Kindergarteners.

Then the 2nd graders came to our classroom and read to us about 2nd grade.  Boy oh boy are these students ready for 2nd grade!

We had one last special show and tell to finish out the school year.  Georgia's dad came in and read a Lego Starwars book to everyone.  They loved it, and so did he!
