Fall Updates

This fall has flown by like no other!  We have finally started to get the hang of doing our Calendar Math solo ;)  1 person each day has the job of filling in the boxes.  I do help when needed but I think they are doing a great job brushing up on some old skills while learning and improving with new ones.  This is what the board looks like when it is all filled in.

We made apple trees from tissue paper, toilet paper rolls and foam circles.  They turned out pretty cute!  We also made "About Me" Tagxedo projects to hang in the hallway.

One day when we returned from lunch this is what we found!  If anyone knows who the mysterious  stuffed bear mover is, please let us know!

October was the start of Character Counts.  This month we learned about Trustworthiness.  Trustworthiness means you are honest, a good friend, and that you can be counted on.

In science we learned about plants this chapter.  We did an experiment where we placed Lima bean seeds in 2 different baggies- 1 with water and 1 without water.  Which one would grow?  We observed the seeds daily and talked about the differences.  The dry bag stayed the same but the 1 with water grew and grew!  I don't know if I've ever had this project go so well.

Another science related project we did was an apple project that worked in with our 5 senses and Johnny Appleseed.  I gave each student a slice of 4 different kinds of apples.  We compared and contrasted the different kinds then voted on a class favorite.  Our overall favorite was the Honeycrisp.  Then we had to describe the apples using our 5 senses.

We have had a great fall so far.  But I can't wait for what's coming up- HALLOWEEN!!
