Animal overload!!

This chapter in science was about the different types of animals.  We learned about mammals, fish, birds, amphibians, reptiles, and insects.  One of the ways we studied the different types of animals was by using Topic Triangles.  The students had to match the animal type, a characteristic, and a picture to make a triangle.

We made a turkey craft to hang in the hallway last week.  The turkeys are holding a peaceful protest...  They are trying to encourage people to "Save a Turkey, Eat More..." strawberries, burgers, cake, bratwursts, hot dogs, pizza, apples, ham, and mashed potatoes!

Ava brought super show and tell again this week.  Her mom brought in 2 chickens and 5 baby chicks!  They were so cute and seemed happy with us.  There was a lot of chirping, from the chicks and kids :)

We ended the week with the Veterans Day Program at school.  Grades K-3 said the Pledge of Allegiance in front of the crowd at the beginning of the program.

Have a great weekend!

We continued our Character Counts this month by learning about Respect. We talked about how to show respect to others, ourselves, property, and the environment.  We watched some YouTube videos about Respect that the kids loved to sing along with.

We wore yellow to celebrate Respect!
Our school hosts the Veteran's Day program for our community every year.  We start off the program by having Kindergarten through 3rd grade say the Pledge of Allegiance.  Here we are lined up to go out to the program.  It's a little blurry, I'm not sure what happened...

We also made an art project to hang in our room to decorate for Veteran's Day.  These star mobiles really brighten up our doorway and window out into the hallway.

The cutest turkey crafts EVER are all over my classroom. We painted bowls and toilet paper rolls to make these turkeys.  We made a list of about 100 things we were thankful for and could choose only 8.  Let me tell you- it was a hard choice to make!

If I don't post again, have a great Thanksgiving!!

God Bless America

I must say that I am grateful to be able to work in a school where the Pledge of Allegiance is said with PRIDE!

November 7th was Voting Day for my school.  We all got to participate in Kid's Voting.

A student proudly wearing his voting pin and "I Voted" sticker.

We made these cool Cascading Star Mobiles for Veteran's Day.  These are even easier if you have someone else cut out all the stars in advance :)

Our star mobiles hanging for everyone to see.

On Veteran's Day (November 12) our community had a Veteran's Day Program.  There were speakers and all past military were recognized.  The Kindergarten through 3rd Grade students started the program by saying the Pledge of Allegiance in front of the crowd.

"I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."
